What it is

  • This bundle brings together forty biological strategy pages available in both English and Spanish, alongside teaching guides and activities curated to support learners in exploring biomimicry.
  • Included teaching resources are the Creatividad Silvestre / Wild Creativity collection, the Concrete Without Quarries and Dye-Sensitized Solar Energy lessons, and the Ask the Planet children's music and teaching guides.
  • All strategy pages and teaching materials are offered in both English and Spanish, and many of the lessons have different versions for each grade band.

Teaching tips

Differentiation:
  • The Concrete Without Quarries lesson for upper elementary asks students to handle chemicals that require certain safety precautions. Consider whether students would be safer watching a demonstration instead.
Preparation:
  • Some of the lessons require unique materials. Review the materials lists before considering a lesson.
  • The Ask the Planet activities require a Spotify account or a copy of the album.
Classroom Implementation:
  • Use this bundle in dual-language and bilingual classrooms where students can toggle between versions.
  • Assign a single bilingual strategy page as a reading and vocabulary-building exercise, having students identify the biological function described in each language.
Scientist's Note:
  • This resource connects biomimicry with diverse themes such as climate change, environmental stewardship, and good citizenship.
